Horse and Rider Accommodation
Riders
who wish to explore Exmoor are welcome to bring their horses.
For
Riders who bring their horses we can offer Bed & Breakfast
in the main Farmhouse.
I am afraid we are unable to cater for dogs in the farmhouse,
but if you rent the
holiday cottage well behaved dogs are permitted.
Stabling
is available with rubber matting and the bedding is miscanthus.
We do not use straw or paper, however if riders prefer woodchips
please let us know. We can stable a maximum of three horses
in an indoor barn. £10.00 for one night only, all subsequent
nights will be £5.00. Our own Hay and Haylage can be supplied
at cost. Grazing is also available free with B&B and with
the holiday cottage.
Bed
and Breakfast is £25.00 per night. We have one twin room
and one double room with a shared bathroom. This is only available
if you are a horse rider and if you are keeping your horse with
us for the duration of your stay.

TREC
Techniques
de Randonee Equestre de Competition is a range of activities
designed to test a horse and riders' ability to find their
way across country using map reading skills, to keep safely
in control and to cope with the sort of obstacles and
problems that they could encounter whilst riding alone
in the countryside. TREC has been popular in France for
over 25 years and it was started originally to test the
expertise of equestrian tourism guides, but quickly appealed
to the tourists themselves and soon turned into a good
fun competition.
TREC is made up of three phases and can be run over one
or two days depending on the level of competition. It
can be ridden as an individual or in a pair up to and
including Level 3 (Level 4 is individual). There is the
Orienteering phase or POR - Parcours de Orientation et
Regularite, the Riding Skills/Cross Country Obstacle Course
or P.T.V - Parcours en Terrain Varie and the Control of
Paces/Gaits CoP/C.G. - Matrisse des Allures

Reading Courses for the POR
For
riders who are interested in TREC we can offer tailored made
instructional courses
in map reading and also the other aspects of TREC, with Robert
Billson and Maggie Robertson who are both BHS approved Technical
Delegates and International judges with extensive experience
in competition and instruction at all levels. Ask for details
– we are very flexible and cater for complete novices
and riders up to Level 4.
There
will be a BHS TREC Qualifying Comnpetition on the weekend 21st
- 23rd September at Burrow Farm for Level 2 and 3 riders with
a non-qualifying Level 2 class for beginners and novice riders.
